Motivation is overrated. In a world where we can get anything we want with the click of a button—groceries, Amazon, Netflix—getting the things we actually need (like a solid workout) feels like a whole different story. Training is tough. It requires effort, discomfort, discipline, and, above all, delayed gratification. And let’s be honest: most of us struggle with that last one.
Here’s the truth: I’m rarely “motivated” to train. If I waited until I felt motivated to work out, I’d probably never do it. Motivation might spark the fire, but discipline is the fuel that keeps it burning bright. That’s why I’ve built a routine, turned it into a habit, and communicated it with my support system to help me stay accountable.
Over the years, sticking to my workouts has done more for my self-esteem and confidence than anything else. Lifting heavy weights? Running fast? Abs? They all come and go.
